Luton Town FC & Gamstop partnership

Collaborative relationships between two entities can provide more opportunities to advance common goals and to involve an alliance between them. It is the case of Luton Town FC that has recently penned a new partnership with the self-exclusion scheme Gamstop. In March 2020, this football club was proud to announce its alliance with the popular non-profit organization Gamstop.

In this collaboration, the public awareness of problem gambling will be introduced across the website, social channels, and on selected matchdays of the football club. This cooperation is among the first partnerships between Luton Town FC and GamStop. As for the Hatters, this Football club has forged several partnerships not only in the UK but also in other countries.

Details of the Deal
After the participation in Responsible Gambling Week in 2019, cooperation is the latest measure in this football club's involvement to promote responsible and safe gambling. As Gamstop is a programme created to help addicts banned from online gambling websites, the partnership with the Hatters will make it more effective. In fact, Gamstop is a free independent company running by the National Online Self-Exclusion Scheme Limited (NOSES Ltd) founded by the Remote Gaming Association.

This self-exclusion service aims to prevent gambling-related harms by allowing the players to ban themselves from their chosen gambling platforms. The process is simple as the users are required to register at the Gamstop and after the confirmation, they can choose the websites they want to be banned. The prohibition can be 6 months, 1 year, and 5 even years. They, therefore, cannot have access to these gambling platforms until the period they choose has expired.

From March 31st, 2020, as reported by the UK Gambling Commission's regulations, all the licensed gambling operators running their businesses in the UK must be registered with Gamstop. Thanks to the partnership with Luton Town FC, more punters who gamble at British betting operators not blocked by Gamstop will be informed about the important responsibility of Gamstop and can be prevented from gambling problems.

According to Fiona Palmer, chief executive of Gamstop, this alliance with Luton Town FC will provide a great advantage in helping this self-exclusion tool to reach the customers who need support and help. Since Gamstop has been working hard for the last two years to provide a trusted, independent, and secure programme, this partnership is an opportunity to make this scheme more effective.

About Luton Town FC
Luton Town FC known also as the Hatters is a football club created in 1885 in the town of Luton, Bedfordshire, England. Since 1905, the team has played its home matches at Kenilworth Road. Since its existence, the Hatters has won more major trophies and its most successful period was between 1981-1982.

At that period, the football team gained the Second Division and thus won promotions. 1988 is one of the most unforgettable moments when the team defeated Arsenal 3–2 in the Football League Cup Final. Apart from the trophies, despite the financial crises the club has experienced, they win many promotions and has had some periods of success. Today, this football club is widely supported and has also a large social media fan base.

About Gamstop
As stated above, Gamstop was created with the goal to help players to prohibit themselves from gambling websites. As a matter of fact, this free independent organism allows those who want to quit gambling platforms after the registration approval. The consumers are then required to supply their personal information and confirm the registration.

Once it is approved, they are able to prohibit themselves from the platforms of their choice. This tool is advantageous not only for the users but also for the gambling industry in the UK. All the licensed gambling operators must participate in the Gamstop programme in order to promote responsible gambling. Aside from providing this exclusion option, Gamstop is also bundled with the schemes to treat and support those who experience gambling problems.

In these approaches, the players who need encouragement and advice are required to contact the service. These addicted gamblers can, hence, take advantage of the advice and support from the advisors. The Gamstop scheme comes with emotional, practical, and debt supports. Therefore, those who need the Gamstop service can contact its website or call the helpline.

The trained and professional counselors are available to advise and help individuals with gambling problems. Additionally, Gamstop works with several gambling charities in the goal to encourage safer and more liable gambling. Today, more than 120,000 people have already registered with this programme.
