Portugal came from a goal down to record an untidy win over Luxembourg at Stade Josy Barthel this evening.
Luxembourg, who are ranked 106th in the world and had lost nine of their last 11 games, went ahead on 13 minutes when Daniel da Mota Alves found the top corner with a superb 25-yard shot.
Da Mota Alves was born in Luxembourg to Portuguese parents.
Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo levelled the scores on 28 minutes, firing below goalkeeper Jonathan Joubert at his near post.
Ronaldo struck the post moments later, before Helder Postiga completed the turnaround early in the second half with a drilled shot from 10 yards.
Portugal continue their World Cup qualifying campaign when they host Azerbaijan on Tuesday night.
