Lyon manager Remi Garde has revealed that he was delighted with his side's clean sheet in their win over Nice on Saturday.
An Alexandre Lacazette brace along with goals from Clement Grenier and Yoann Gourcuff gave Les Gones a 4-0 win at Stade de Gerland at the weekend.
Despite scoring four times during the match, Garde was happier to have kept a clean sheet on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season.
"I am pleased that we did not concede any goals," Garde told reporters. "That is the third game we have played in a row without conceding.
"Like in the other times, we can thank Anthony Lopes who saved us in goal. Lopes had to make some good saves and the fact we did not take any goals was important for the confidence of the players.
"I told it to the players before and after the game, and they can build from this performance. We did not control the game in the first [half] like we did in the second. We had some luck but we did create it but, I repeat, the season will be long and we have to remain grounded."
Lyon travel to Sochaux on Friday in their next match.
