Highly-rated midfielder Sergi Darder has signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with Malaga.
The 19-year-old, who came through the club's youth system, has impressed since making the step into first-team football.
"This is a very special day for me. I'd like to thank everyone who had faith in me as a player from a very young age, particularly [Malaga academy director] Manuel Casanova, Malaga, and of course, Bernd Schuster," he told reporters at a press conference.
"When I first started pre-season training, I never knew I'd have such an amazing opportunity. This is what I've been working for all this time. Malaga really has given me everything. I'm so thankful to the club for where I am today, and I'd like to remain here as long as I can. I'll always be grateful to Malaga.
"I'm going to continue working hard, I'm 19 years old and have a lot of room for improvement. If I get a chance to play for my country, that would be incredible, but I'm focused on giving my all to Malaga."
Darder has also appeared seven times for the Spanish Under-17s.
