Manchester City and Italy forward Mario Balotelli has claimed that he will walk off the field at Euro 2012 if players are subjected to racial abuse.
UEFA's decision to allow Ukraine to joint-host this summer's championships has been widely criticised because of the country's reputation for racial intolerance.
Theo Walcott's family have refused to travel to Euro 2012 in fear of racist attacks, while Sol Campbell has warned travelling England supporters that they risk "coming back in a coffin".
Balotelli believes that racism is totally unacceptable and has threatened to "kill" anyone who throws a banana at him.
He said: "If someone throws a banana at me in the street, I will go to prison because I will kill him.
"Racism is unacceptable to me, I cannot bear it. I hope there will not be a problem at the Euros because if it does happen I would straight away leave the pitch and go home.
"We are in 2012, it can't happen."
Balotelli was racially abused by Juventus and Roma fans in 2009.
