Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that he expects Ilkay Gundogan to be on the sidelines for a "long time" after suffering suspected knee ligament damage in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Watford.
City earned their first Premier League home win in two months at the Etihad Stadium, but there was disappointment for Gundogan as he was forced off the pitch just before half time.
After the game, Guardiola told reporters: "I'm so sad for Ilkay Gundogan as it looks like we'll be without him for a long time - we will know more tomorrow, it doesn't look good.
"We'll know the extent of the injury when he has been properly assessed by the doctor but I think he may be out for some time."
Gundogan has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring five goals and creating one assist.
