Sergio Aguero has suggested that his opener in Manchester City's 3-0 demolition of Premier League champions Chelsea this evening settled the pre-match nerves.
Manuel Pellegrini's side flashed their title credentials with an early statement as Aguero, Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho humbled the West Londoners at the Etihad.
The Argentine netted on 32 minutes after previously missing a host of clear-cut chances, and he claims that the first goal was perhaps the most important.
"It was very good," he told Sky Sports News. "It's important the goal because the first one is always important.
"Then the team is more calm. It's important the three points because Chelsea is difficult, they are the champions."
The Sky Blues travel to Merseyside to face Everton next Sunday.
