Manchester City have attempted to squash suggestions that manager Roberto Mancini has fallen out with football director Brian Marwoood.
The Italian boss sparked controversy after hinting yesterday that Marwood has been slow in striking transfer deals this summer.
"It is the sort of thing that goes on at all football clubs with the manager wanting success with the best players available to him," the Manchester Evening News quotes a Man City spokesman as saying.
Meanwhile, the Premier League champions remain heavily linked with a move for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.
