Manchester City face a bill from the police after officers were sent to protect Carlos Tevez from angry fans.
Officers from seven divisions were sent to Manchester Airport in the early hours on Wednesday, after the striker allegedly refused to come on off the bench for City against Bayern Munich.
Police spotters monitored threatening messages posted by City fans on the internet, while officers escorted the Argentinian from the airport to his home in Alderley Edge.
The operation is believed to have cost thousands of pounds, and City will be expected to contribute towards the bill.
