Aston Villa midfielder Tom Cleverley predicts Premier League survival despite their narrow defeat to Man City.

Aston Villa midfielder Tom Cleverley is adamant that his side did not deserve to lose against Manchester City this evening.

Fernandinho scored a late goal to give City a 3-2 win, just minutes after Carlos Sanchez had made the score 2-2. Villa had trailed 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium, but Cleverley scored to given them hope.

Tim Sherwood's side sit just two points clear of the relegation zone, but the midfielder is sure that they will not go down as long as they continue to play well.

He told BBC Sport: "I'm devastated. I thought the way we played deserved something today. I thought for much of the game we were the better side, but we were just a bit sloppy at times. We can take confidence from it and hopefully we can do the job next week.

"We can't let our heads drop. If we keep performing like we have against Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham in the last three games, we'll be alright."

Villa face Everton next week before another home game against West Ham United.
