Edin Dzeko: 'Goals are Roberto Mancini message'

Edin Dzeko hopes that his goalscoring form will help him earn a starting place for Manchester City.

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has admitted that his goals are a message to manager Roberto Mancini as he looks for a starting role in the team.

The Bosnian came off the bench to score the winning goal and give City a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad, after Sergio Aguero had cancelled out Steven Caulker's opener.

Dzeko has adopted the label of 'super sub' after coming on and scoring a number of crucial goals for the Premier League champions this season, however the 26-year-old hopes that his goalscoring form will soon be enough to merit a starting berth.

"The goals are my message. That's the only thing," said Dzeko.

"It's not the first time [he has scored the winner] but it is a good feeling of course.

"Even when we are losing we come back. I hope next time we are winning 1-0 and then go on and win the game."

City host Aston Villa in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday.
