Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has claimed that Raheem Sterling needs to "deliver" in terms of goals after missing two chances against Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The 20-year-old, who left Liverpool for City in a £49m deal during the summer, missed the target inside the second minute of the clash at the Etihad Stadium.
The England international also failed to beat goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon after going one-on-one with the Italian as the match ended in a 2-1 defeat for the hosts.
"I think at this point in his career he is trying to add goals to his game," Gerrard said during BT Sport's Champions League coverage. "It is something that he does need to sharpen up on.
"He's still a young boy. He's gone [to City] with a big price tag and there's big pressure on him. At this level you've got to deliver. It is something he needs to brush up on very quickly."
Sterling scored his first Premier League goal for City in a 2-0 win over Watford last month.
