Incoming Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has vowed to bring 'enjoyment' to the Etihad Stadium as he addressed the media and supporters for the first time on Sunday afternoon.

The Spaniard, who departed Bayern Munich to take control of the Premier League side, has also welcomed the "amazing opportunity" provided to him by the Manchester outfit.

"Thank you for coming here, it's my new house. I'm so so glad to be here and thank you for Manchester City for giving me this amazing opportunity. I am pretty sure we are going to enjoy it," Guardiola said at his official unveiling.

"I have proven myself in Barcelona and in Germany and after I want to prove myself here with my staff and the amazing players City have. To try and win every game, for City to play a way people can be proud.

"At the end what I want is after the season the fans and the people who love football to enjoy what we do and be proud, that is the most important thing. Maybe we will achieve titles but if the people are not proud there is no point."

"Every manager in the world wants to improve their players that's why if he is able to do this I work like them. I have my way to do things the way I want my team to play, we don't have a lot of time but as soon as possible we want to create a team spirit. We have to create something special between each other, that is the most important thing, after that the rest will come."

The 45-year-old was asked by a supporter whether he would be able to bring Lionel Messi to the club this summer, and the head coach responded "Not a bad player, but Messi has to stay at Barca for the rest of his career".

Guardiola won four league titles and two Champions Leagues during his time in charge of Barcelona, before leading Bayern to three straight Bundesliga titles from 2013.
