Erling Braut Haaland's salary at Manchester City is reportedly worth £865,000 a week, making him comfortably the highest-paid player in the country.

The Citizens signed the Norway international from Borussia Dortmund over the summer and are believed to have paid just £51m for his services due to a release clause.

However, the overall cost of the deal, excluding wages, is thought to have been closer to £100m when taking into consideration agent fees, the signing bonus and other costs.

The 21-year-old has been in staggering form for Man City during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 19 goals and registering three assists in 12 appearances in all competitions.

Haaland has 14 goals in eight Premier League appearances, while he has managed five goals in three Champions League outings, including a brace against Copenhagen on Wednesday night.

According to the Daily Mail, the striker earns a basic salary which is in line with the other high earners at the Etihad Stadium, but a series of bonuses, which are almost guaranteed, take him up to £865,000 a week.

The report claims that Haaland's salary could see him earn as much as £45m each year, with the Norwegian contracted to the English champions until June 2027.

The centre-forward scored 86 goals and registered 23 assists in 89 appearances for Borussia Dortmund before making the move to Manchester.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United were among the clubs believed to be interested in Haaland before Man City won the race for his signature.

The former Molde youngster has already scored three Premier League hat-tricks for Man City, netting three times against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Man United.

There have been suggestions that there is a release clause in Haaland's contract which could see him make the move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2024.

However, Citizens head coach Pep Guardiola insisted on Wednesday that was not the case, branding the rumours "not true".

"It's not true. He has not got a release clause for Real Madrid, or any other team," the Man City boss told reporters. "Am I annoyed by the rumours? No, absolutely not. Rumours, and people talking, you cannot control it - so always we have to worry about what we can control.

"The important thing is that he has adapted [since joining City] really well. I have the feeling he is incredibly happy here, and this is the most important thing."

Haaland has only failed to score in one appearance for Man City this season, which was the 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on the second weekend of the new Premier League campaign. body check tags ::
