Manchester City's Vincent Kompany: 'We can win Premier League'

Vincent Kompany says that he is confident that Manchester City will overturn the seven-point deficit and overtake current Premier League leaders Manchester United.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has said that his side can still win the Premier League title this season.

The defending English champions are currently seven points behind league leaders Manchester United.

"What I would say is that a couple of years ago, had we fallen seven points behind, we would all have said to ourselves that it would be very difficult," The Mirror quotes the defender as saying.

"But now we've done it, nobody panics. Everything is still possible. We have proved what we can do and everybody is very calm.

"That's the advantage you get when you win it once. You have that inner confidence."

Kompany added that City are not going to let themselves slip up this season after winning the league title in 2011-12.

"We've set our standards high and worked hard for a long time to bring ourselves into this position," he said. "We're not going to let it slip now.

"When you've won the title, you aim for another one. That's not just the ambition for 2013, but for the future of the club."

City will host Watford at the Etihad Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
