Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has said that his side's recent win over Newcastle United serves as an indicator of the belief the team have as they aim to reclaim the Premier League title.
The Sky Blues put in a devastating display of attacking football to put five goals past John Carver's men at the Etihad, with Kompany keen to highlight that City are determined to fight for both domestic and European glory.
"Our team has been proving our determination in recent years. That's one thing when you look back on this team in the future you will never be able to say we did not have. We've always come back," said Kompany, according to The Guardian.
"We're putting in a fight again for the Premier League – you saw that [against Newcastle]. And we'll put in a fight for the Champions League too.
"The history of this club tells you that in the past six years we always keep progressing."
City currently hold second place in the Premier League table on 55 points, five behind league leaders Chelsea.
