Liverpool forward Sadio Mane is to serve a three-match ban after an appeal against the length of his suspension for the red card awarded to him against Manchester City was rejected.
The Senegal international was sent off in the first half of Saturday's Premier League meeting with City, which the Reds went on to lose 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Mane caught opposition keeper Ederson in the face with a high foot, causing a debate as to whether a yellow card or a red card was the right level of punishment.
Liverpool had hoped to see the duration of the ban reduced by one or two games, but the Football Association has upheld its decision and the 25-year-old will now miss his side's next three games.
As well as sitting out league matches against Burnley and Leicester City, Mane will also be absent for the EFL trip to the King Power Stadium.
