Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he is "bitterly disappointed" for the supporters after the club's end-of-season friendly with MLS side Houston Dynamo was cancelled due to flooding.
The former Premier League champions travelled to the United States earlier this week for the match, which was due to go ahead on Thursday evening, but organisers deemed the pitch unplayable.
"We are bitterly disappointed for our fans and for those of Houston Dynamo that the match has been cancelled," Pellegrini told City's official website.
"We had travelled to Houston from Toronto in anticipation of a great game of football and we recognise many fans have also travelled long distances.
"We thank the entire Houston Dynamo team for their efforts in preparing for the match and regret that the game could not be played."
The Chilean coach's team will head to New York to watch their sister club New York City FC play Houston, whose manager is former Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle, in a league clash at the Yankee Stadium.
