Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he dropped Vincent Kompany to the bench for Wednesday night's game against Leicester City so that he could freshen up the team.
The City captain was an unused substitute in the 2-0 victory over the struggling Foxes at the Etihad Stadium.
Pellegrini, who made five changes following Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Liverpool, insists that there are no problems between him and Kompany.
"He took it very well and without any problems. It was to refresh the team as it was for all those players," the Chilean told BBC Sport.
Kompany has made 26 appearances in all competitions for City this season.
