Manuel Pellegrini has claimed that Manchester City's early-season form could be the foundations from which a Premier League title is won.
The Sky Blues thumped defending champions Chelsea 3-0 at Eastlands this evening to follow up their win at West Bromwich Albion by the same scoreline.
Consequently, Pellegrini's men move five points clear of the West Londoners after two games played, and the Chilean, who led City to the title in 2014, hopes that another is on the cards.
"Two things are the most pleasing to me about this match," he told Sky Sports News.
"Number one to score three goals. In the first half we played really well, just Asmir Begovic put in a great performance and we didn't score more.
"Second it was important to get a clean sheet. To win 3-0 in two games, one against the champions, we are just starting the season but it's important to play in the way we did today."
Sergio Aguero opened the scoring after finally beating an inspired Begovic on 32 minutes, with Vincent Kompany and Fernandinho adding gloss to the scoreline in the final quarter.
