Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini feels that his side were complacent in their 2-2 draw against Burnley.

The Citizens took a 2-0 lead into half time thanks to goals from David Silva and Fernandinho, but Sean Dyche's men rallied in the second half to earn a point at the Etihad Stadium.

Pellegrini believes that his players took their foot off the gas and were unable to recapture their intensity of the first half, which proved to cost them two points in the race for the Premier League title.

He told reporters: "Maybe at 2-0, we thought the game was over. Until the final whistle, the game is never finished. We changed our pace or we couldn't continue at the same pace.

"It is clear that we couldn't keep the same intensity in the second half. In the second way, because it is difficult for all the teams but especially our team to play on a heavy pitch the last game at West Bromwich Albion. So it was hard to keep the same pace in the second half."

City still trail Chelsea at the top of the table by three points after 19 matches this season.
