Gus Poyet: 'Sergio Aguero changed the game'

Gus Poyet admits that Sunderland were beaten by one of the best strikers around following Sergio Aguero's fine display in the 4-1 loss to Manchester City.

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has claimed that Sergio Aguero was the main difference between the two sides as his team suffered a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Stadium of Light.

Despite falling behind to a Connor Wickham goal, the Premier League champions managed to ease to victory thanks largely to Aguero, who continued his fine form by scoring twice for the visitors.

Poyet believes that it was the Argentine forward's first goal which changed the game so soon after the Black Cats had broken the deadlock.

"We got ahead and then there was quality from someone who is in great form like Aguero. From nothing he created something, scored an unbelievable goal and then the game changed," the Uruguayan told Sky Sports News.

When asked what needed to be done to stop Aguero, Poyet claimed: "You need to be very good individually, you need to be aware, you need to be powerful, you need to be quick and you need to cover each other. You need to always concentrate and you need to be spot on.

"Even then I would say you have to find a way of attacking. We had to accept that today we played against one of the top strikers in the world."

Aguero has now scored 14 goals in the Premier League this season.
