Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell has confirmed that he has suffered a setback as he attempts to overcome a hamstring injury.

The 21-year-old has featured just six times for the Premier League champions this season following his summer move from Everton.

Despite a recent return to training, Rodwell has revealed that he will now be out of action until the New Year.

"It will probably be another few weeks, so I'm looking into the new year," he told the club's official website. "I'm doing quite a lot of training at the minute though, so I'm keeping busy.

"It's been a frustrating start to the season and to my City career, bit I'm focused now and I'm ready to get back."

Rodwell's last appearance for Manchester City came during a 3-0 win over Sunderland on October 6.
