Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna has revealed that he has never considered quitting the club, despite struggling to break into the side.
The French international moved to the Etihad Stadium from Arsenal last summer but largely had to settle for a place on the bench with Pablo Zabaleta preferred at right-back.
Sagna has insisted that walking away from City is not an option because the competition for places motivates him.
"I never thought about it because I came here for the challenge," he told the Manchester Evening News. "I'm having that challenge now.
"No-one understood why I left Arsenal, but I stayed there for seven years and I needed a change. I'm someone who likes to challenge themselves and it was the right time to do it.
"I came here and Pablo was here and everyone knows that he is a top quality right back so I had to step up my game and I had to work harder."
Sagna has made 24 appearances for City in all competitions.
