Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri has confirmed that he will be out of action for "eight weeks" with a knee injury.
The Frenchman suffered the complaint after he was fouled by Newcastle United defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa at St James' Park yesterday afternoon, with initial reports having suggested that he could miss this summer's World Cup in Brazil.
However, the 26-year-old took to Twitter this afternoon to reveal that he will be sidelined for the next two months.
"Thank you everyone for your kind words and overwhelming support, I suppose its kind of good news that I will be out around 8 weeks," he tweeted.
Nasri is now likely to miss his side's matches against Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as at least one leg of the Champions League last-16 tie with Barcelona.
