David Silva: Title would match World Cup win

David Silva says that winning the Premier League would mean as much to him as winning the World Cup with Spain.

David Silva has admitted that winning the Premier League with Manchester City this term would be on a par with his World Cup victory.

The City playmaker was part of the Spain side that won the tournament held in 2010, while he also featured in their European Championship triumph two years prior.

Now Silva is targeting success at club level to match his achievements on the international scene.

"Winning the Premier League was the reason I came to England - and it would be just as important to me as winning the European Championship and World Cup," he said.

"Coming to City was a big challenge for me. Winning the FA Cup in my first season was a big achievement, but this is a great championship to be in because the competition is so intense.

"I think England and Spain have the two best leagues. But the difference is that over here there are more teams capable of winning the title than there are in Spain. That makes it more exciting."

Silva is expected to feature in City's match against title rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium this afternoon.
