Manchester City attacker Bernardo Silva has claimed that his team effectively ended Manchester United's Premier League title chances by recording a 3-1 win in the Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon.
The result at the Etihad Stadium means that United are now 12 points off division leaders City, but also 10 points off second-placed Liverpool, eight off third-placed Chelsea, and seven off fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Silva has said that United "need to be almost perfect" from now until the end of the season to stand a chance of winning the title, but even then the Red Devils would have to rely on all of the teams above them dropping points.
"It won't be easy. Not only Man City - [they are] 10 points from Liverpool, a lot of points from the other ones as well. They need to be almost perfect and wait for the other ones to lose a lot of points. I think it won't be easy," Silva told reporters.
United have now lost four of their first 12 matches of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign and have a -1 goal difference entering the latest international break.
City, on the other hand, have won 10 of their 12 league fixtures this season to top the pile.
