Raheem Sterling: 'Manchester City have tried to be killers'

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling says that his side have "tried to be killers" this season following their impressive start to the Premier League campaign.

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has said that his side have "tried to be killers" this season as Pep Guardiola's charges look to extend their Premier League lead to eight points.

The comments were made after City's 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town, in which the England man won a penalty and slotted home the winner at the John Smith's Stadium.

City were losing at half time following a Nicolas Otamendi own goal, but the visitors produced a valiant performance in the second period to take three points from West Yorkshire.

"We wanted to get a goal as soon as possible, and the message was to get right at them, get in their area and try to pin them back, and that's what we did," Sterling told the Manchester Evening News.

"With the mentality we have had this season I didn't have one doubt for a moment. We kept going, dug deep and got that early goal which pushed us to the win.

"From what I have seen this season from the boys, the work rate and mentality we have had, we have tried to be killers and we showed that in the second half."

City face Southampton on Wednesday night looking to extend their unbeaten run in the top flight this season.
