John Stones has described Manchester City's 4-1 pre-season win over Real Madrid as a "good platform".
The defender was among the scorers as Pep Guardiola's side thumped the Champions League holders in their International Champions Cup clash in Los Angeles on Thursday morning.
Reflecting on the win, Stones told Sky Sports News: "We were hungry, we wanted to beat them and it's a good platform to take into the next game.
"It was good to be out there, get 90 minutes under my belt and test myself against the Champions League winners. I don't get those (goals) too often, but it's nice to get off to a good start.
"We have been working in training and it's all coming together, it's still early but to get a good win against a top team like Madrid is all positive."
Man City now face Tottenham Hotspur on July 29 in Tennessee, before completing pre-season against West Ham United in Iceland on August 4.
