Sergio Aguero has stated that he believes Bernardo Silva would be "key" for Barcelona if he leaves Manchester City this summer.
Silva has been the centre of speculation linking him with a move to the Catalan giants, who are set to meet Man City this week to discuss a potential deal.
With Barcelona appearing to be stepping up their pursuit, Silva has recently admitted he has "no idea what's going to happen."
Silva's former City teammate Sergio Aguero - who also made the move to Barcelona last summer before a heart issue forced him to retire - has now weighed in on the rumours.
Speaking to Stake, Aguero said: "Bernardo is a great player, he carries the ball, he sacrifices, has quality to assist and score goals and he can play in different positions.
"It would surprise me if City let him go. He is a player who contributes a lot every season, but everything is possible.
"If he finally arrives at Barca, then he will be someone who can be key to the possession game that Xavi likes."
Barcelona are looking to make Silva their sixth addition of the summer after signing Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Jules Kounde ahead of the new season, which begins on Saturday with a home encounter against Rayo Vallecano.
