Everton midfielder Gareth Barry has expressed his belief that Ross Barkley is "too young" to move to Manchester City.
The England international has been linked with a summer transfer to the Citizens following his exploits for the Toffees over the past year.
However, Barry has warned his teammate that a move to City may not be beneficial for his career at this stage in his development.
He is quoted as saying by The Mirror: "Personally, I think he's still too young to make that move."
When asked if the struggles of young players at City was the reasoning behind his feelings, Barry added: "I think so, yeah. He's still learning the game. He's got the right manager here to push him to the next level.
"As soon as he reaches that next level, then there's another decision to be made. At the moment, I think it's too early."
Everton face Manchester United in their next Premier League clash on Sunday.
