Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain has reportedly decided to keep a watchful eye on Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri.
The 22-year-old has been a regular for Atletico this season with 34 appearances coming in La Liga and the Champions League, and it has led to interest in the Spaniard's signature.
City have been linked with an approach for Rodri, and according to the Daily Mail, Begiristain has opted to travel to Spain to assess the player.
The report claims that the City chief was present when Atletico played Girona earlier this week, and there is the suggestion that further checks will be made on Rodri.
The former Villarreal man still has over four years remaining on his contract, but it is said that his deal contains a release clause of £60m.
