Manchester City are reportedly ready to make Argentine defender Diego Novaretti their first summer signing.
According to Sky Italia, the 27-year-old will join Roberto Mancini's side on a free transfer this summer when his contract with Mexican side Toluca expires.
The central defender left Argentina for Toluca in 2009 and has become an integral part of the side's challenge for the Copa Libertadores in that time.
With Kolo Toure definitely leaving City this summer and doubts surrounding the future of Joleon Lescott, Mancini is thought to want Novaretti as central defensive cover.
Novaretti has developed a reputation for versatility and could join compatriots Pablo Zabaleta and Carlos Tevez at the Etihad for nothing when his contract expires at the end of next month.
