Manchester City back-up keeper Claudio Bravo says that 'there are more important things to life than football' as he responds to speculation over his future.

Claudio Bravo has hinted that he is happy to stick around at Manchester City after playing a pivotal role in their run to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.

The Chile international lost his place to Ederson and has featured for just a combined 45 minutes in the Premier League this season.

Bravo has instead been reduced to appearances in the secondary cup competition, featuring in all three rounds and restoring his status somewhat by proving the shootout hero against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City.

Amid speculation of a return to South America being lined up for the end of the season, the 34-year-old insisted that he is happy to remain patient at the Etihad Stadium for the time being, despite a frosty relationship with boss Pep Guardiola.

"My relationship with Pep? Well, it is what it is. He is grateful for the two penalty shootouts in which it was my turn to help the team, but other than that there is nothing else to say," Goal.com quotes him as saying. "I have a very clear picture [about my future].

"There has been stuff about River [Plate] or I don't know where, today there was an article that I was already preparing to return [to South America]... I think there's a long way to go for that. I think life is not only about football, life involves a lot more, I have a family to consider, they are living in Manchester, we are thrilled that the kids are learning the language perfectly.

"These are things that we consider as a family, setting aside whether I'm playing or not. It's all about being calm, to keep working, keep doing my job when I'm called upon, and being patient. In that sense I'm calm, at my age I'm not going crazy, as I said in life there are many things more important than football."

Former Barcelona keeper Bravo made 22 appearances for Man City in the top flight last season.
