Kevin De Bruyne's agent Patrick De Koster has revealed that his client almost signed for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich before joining Manchester City.
The 24-year-old moved from Wolfsburg to the Etihad Stadium last summer for a reported £58m fee.
However, prior to the transfer, the Belgium international came close to joining Bayern, and his representative has claimed that he would be part of Pep Guardiola's team now had the fee been met.
"Kevin's heart was beating for the Bundesliga, where he broke through at Bremen and became a star at Wolfsburg," the Daily Star quotes De Koster as saying. "I'm convinced he would have played for Bayern if they had been able to pay the asking price.
"We reached a personal agreement with Bayern after two meetings. The deal has collapsed on the asking price. I think that Bayern wanted to pay €50m, but not any euro more.
"In the end City won the race and Kevin is super happy with his move. He adapted fast on and off the pitch."
De Bruyne has scored 11 goals in 27 appearances for City so far this season.
