La Liga giants Barcelona are determined to sign Manchester City striker Erling Haaland in the near future, according to a report.

Barca president Joan Laporta has allegedly been 'dreaming' of luring the 24-year-old goal machine to Camp Nou for some time, but his attempts have been unsuccessful thus far.

Haaland has established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in world football since joining Man City in the summer of 2022, scoring a remarkable 101 goals in 108 appearances across all competitions.

He has already scored 10 Premier League goals in just seven games so far this term and is bidding to become the first player since Thierry Henry (2005 to 2007) to win three consecutive Golden Boot awards in the division.

The Norway international surpassed compatriot Jorgen Juve to become his country's all-time record goalscorer (34) after netting a brace in a 3-0 UEFA Nations League win over Slovenia earlier this month.

Barca to step up pursuit of dream target Haaland?

Haaland is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until June 2027, but he has been linked with moves to a host of other top European clubs amid his magnificent goalscoring exploits.

A recent report claims that Man City's No.9 has rejected the chance to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, despite receiving a lucrative multi-million-pound contract offer.

Real Madrid are believed to be long-term admirers of Haaland and their club president Florentino Perez is said to have ambitions of signing the striker to partner Kylian Mbappe in attack.

Amidst their well-documented financial concerns, Barcelona have also been credited with an interest in Haaland and Spanish news outlet Sport claims that Laporta 'will go all out' for the striker before his presidential term is due to expire in 2026.

Barca to unveil Haaland signing at new 105,000-seater Camp Nou?

The report adds that Laporta has been 'slowly articulating the strategy' to recruit Haaland either in the summer of 2025 or in 2026.

Laporta is planning to complete the statement signing of Haaland to crown the re-opening of the Spotify Camp Nou, which is currently under construction.

Barca intend to re-open their home stadium at 60% capacity before the end of this year, and it will eventually hold a staggering 105,000 supporters when it is fully operational.

In addition, the Catalan giants are understood to have identified Haaland as a long-term successor to 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski, who will see his contract expire in June 2026.

Should Haaland decide to leave Man City, Pep Guardiola's side could reportedly join the race for Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. body check tags ::
