Erling Braut Haaland's father has urged his son to join Manchester City in the summer transfer window, according to a report.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has a host of top European clubs chasing his signature in June, due to a £68m release clause becoming active in the contract that was signed when he joined from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020.
However, according to Football Insider, City are leading the chase for the 21-year-old thanks to his father, former City player Alf Inge Haaland.
The 49-year-old, who spent three years in Manchester, has urged his son to join the Premier League champions ahead of other potential suitors according to the report.
City and manager Pep Guardiola have targeted a striker for some time, and missed out on a deal to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur last summer.
The report continues with City's lead in the race for Haaland though, due to the Norwegian's huge contract demands that they are capable of meeting.
Despite missing a number of games due to injury this season, Haaland has netted a remarkable 16 league goals in just 14 Bundesliga appearances so far this season. body check tags ::
