Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has ruled out a move for Manchester City misfit Joleon Lescott.
The 30-year-old has found himself on the fringes of the first team at the Etihad Stadium this season following the arrival of Matija Nastasic.
He was linked with a short-term move to Villa Park, but Lambert has said that the Villans do not have the resources to land the England international.
When asked if Villa fans were dreaming if they expected the arrival of Lescott, Lambert replied: "Yes, money, I think that's the reality of it. We can't do it.
"It's probably fair to say we've not got [£6m to spend on a player], so you have to box clever.
"A lot of things get dominated by finance."
Villa are currently 16th in the Premier League.
