Manchester City are reportedly hoping to fend off interest from Real Madrid to secure the signature of Uruguayan youngster Facundo Pellistri.
The 18-year-old has made 23 appearances for Primera Division side Penarol since 2019 and a host of top European sides have been credited with an interest in the attacker.
City are reportedly confident of winning the race for Pellistri, however, as the Daily Mail reports that scouts from the Premier League champions have already held talks with the teenager's representatives.
The report claims that Pellistri, who is under the guidance of former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan, could be available for a fee in the region of £10m.
Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are both said to be monitoring the situation, with Pellistri's current deal at Penarol set to expire in 2023.
