Manchester City have reportedly entered advanced negotiations to sign Aymeric Laporte from Athletic Bilbao.
It was recently claimed that incoming City boss Pep Guardiola had informed club officials that the French centre-back was his number one defensive target.
However, there were suggestions that the Premier League side had cooled their interest after Laporte suffered a broken leg in late March.
Nevertheless, City have pushed ahead with the deal and according to The Mirror, an agreement is in the offing.
It is believed that the 21-year-old will command a transfer fee in the region of £35m.
