Manchester City have reportedly made an offer of £50m to bring Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos to the Etihad.
New City manager Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge fan of the Germany international, having worked with him at Bayern Munich before his £24m move to the Bernabeu in 2014.
According to The Mirror, City have yet to speak directly to Madrid about the potential transfer and are "wary" about being used as a means for Kroos to improve his current £90,000-a-week deal with the La Liga side.
Madrid are contemplating selling off one of their big-name stars this summer in order to free up some cash to compete in the transfer market, where bidding for the in-demand Paul Pogba is likely to top the £100m mark.
Kroos has scored three goals in 68 league appearances during his two seasons with the capital side.
