Manchester City scout Sebastian Arnsen has revealed that the Premier League club are currently "keeping a very close eye" on Ajax's teenage forward Kasper Dolberg.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Manchester United had been scouting the 19-year-old, who has drawn comparisons with current Red Devils forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, Man City appear to be ahead of their rivals in the race for the Denmark Under-21 international after Arnsen confirmed that there is solid interest in the player with "huge potential".
"We are keeping a very close eye on him, and when the time is right we'll make a decision on whether we should act. He has a huge potential," Arnsen told BT.
"He is tall, strong, brave and quick. He has an excellent touch, can play with his back to the goal and take the right decisions. And he can finish anywhere in the field. He is so special, and therefore he is of course also on the radar."
Dolberg has scored 11 times in 20 appearances for Ajax this season, including eight goals in the Eredivisie.
