Manchester City reportedly have no intention of letting Adam Johnson leave the club on a loan basis.

Manchester City will reportedly not allow Adam Johnson to leave the club on loan this summer.

Recent speculation has linked the 24-year-old with a temporary switch away from the Etihad Stadium in order to gain regular starting action.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill in particular had been credited with a strong interest in the winger.

However, City have no intention of letting a player go that they view as an important member of their squad, according to Sky Sports News.

Johnson joined the Citizens in January 2010 from Middlesbrough.
