Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is reportedly determined to bolster his defensive ranks by signing Real Madrid centre-back Pepe.
It is believed that Pellegrini has twice tried to sign the Portugal international since he took charge of City in 2013, but Madrid rejected both approaches.
However, with the 31-year-old's contract due to expire in 2016, the European champions are now prepared to listen to offers for him, according to the Daily Star.
This change of stance is likely to alert Pellegrini, who is thought to want to find a replacement for 33-year-old Martin Demichelis next summer.
Speculation has suggested that Pepe could be made available for around £6m.
