Manchester City have had a bid rejected for Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez, according to reports.

Gimenez has become a regular player in the Spanish side's team this season and has been repeatedly linked with a move to some of Europe's biggest clubs.

The Mirror also claims that the reigning Premier League champions have made an approach for Brazilian defender Miranda, who has been linked with Manchester United in the past.

Miranda was a key part of the Atletico side that reached the final of the Champions League last season, although he failed to make Brazil's final World Cup squad.

Nineteen-year-old Gimenez has broken into the Uruguay team this season, making three appearances.
