Manchester City will reportedly announce the signing of Fernando from FC Porto later this week.
The club are believed to have made a £14.5m bid for the midfielder, who played 45 matches for the Portuguese side last season.
According to The Guardian, the 26-year-old will fly to Manchester to undergo a medical with the club later this week before finalising the terms of his move to the Etihad Stadium.
Fernando joined Porto from Brazilian side Vila Nova in 2007.
