Southampton have completed the signing of winger Sam Edozie from Manchester City for a fee allegedly rising to £10m.

The 19-year-old has penned a five-year contract at St Mary's, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2027.

Edozie becomes the third Man City player to join the Saints this summer after the arrivals of goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu and midfielder Romeo Lavia.

Speaking to Southampton's official website on his arrival on the South Coast, Edozie said: "I'm very excited. It's a great club – a club that likes to play young players, so it's a very attractive club to come to.

"I used to play with Romeo [Lavia] and Gavin [Bazunu], and they've both played a lot, so it's definitely something at my age in my career that I just want to play as much first-team football as possible. If I've got a chance of that here then it's a great opportunity."

Head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl added: "Samuel is another promising young player who brings good attacking qualities to us, and he is someone who fits very well with our philosophy.

"He is a quick player who has impressive technical ability, so he will be able to help our squad immediately, but we also see a lot of potential in him for the future.

"This is a good opportunity for him, and I know he is excited about the chance to come here and improve."

Edozie joined City's academy from Millwall in 2019 and developed into one of the club's most promising talents in their Elite Development Squad.

The Lewisham-born winger scoring 14 goals and registered 10 assists in 60 appearances at youth level for the Citizens over the last three seasons, and helped the club's Under-23s win the Premier League 2 title last season.

Edozie only featured once in Pep Guardiola's senior team, and the England Under-19 international will now be hoping to gain first-team football with Southampton under the tutelage of Hasenhuttl.

The teenager could make his debut for the Saints when they welcome Brentford to St Mary's for their Premier League clash on Saturday.

Edozie is not the only player to arrive at Southampton on deadline day, as they have also completed the signing of versatile midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal.

Meanwhile, the Saints are also attempting to recruit 18-year-old Spanish full-back Juan Larios from Man City before the 11pm deadline. body check tags ::
