Manchester City centre-back John Stones is close to signing a new long-term deal with the club that is worth up to £39m, according to a report.
Stones has regained his best form this season, playing a major role in City's ongoing quest to win an EFL Cup, Premier League and Champions League treble.
The England international, a £47.5m signing from Everton in August 2016, had previously looked certain to leave the Etihad Stadium last year after falling out of favour.
However, The Sun claims that Stones will cap his impressive turnaround by putting pen to paper on a five-year contract on wages of around £150,000 a week.
That contract will also supposedly include a number of various performance-related bonuses related to appearances, trophies won and clean sheets.
Stones, who missed Sunday's EFL Cup final win against Tottenham Hotspur through suspension, is currently due to be out of contract in a year's time. body check tags ::
