Sunderland are considering a deal for Manchester City right-back Micah Richards, according to a report.
The 26-year-old defender has struggled for first-team football at the Etihad Stadium in recent seasons and joined Fiorentina on loan for the current campaign.
However, The Mirror claims that the Black Cats are hoping to lure the England international back to the Premier League, once his current contract with the Citizens expires this summer.
Sunderland are thought to be facing competition for Richards's signature from Inter Milan, coached by former City boss Roberto Mancini, as well as a number of other suitors.
The Wearside outfit are currently third from bottom in the table.
