How Manchester United could line up against Burnley

Sports Mole predicts how Manchester United will line up for Sunday's Premier League trip to Burnley.

Manchester United travel to Burnley on Sunday afternoon seeking a return to winning ways in the Premier League following successive defeats.

The Red Devils have lost two of their opening three top-flight games for the first time in a quarter of a century, going down to Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur in the past fortnight.

Six goals were conceded in those two matches and two scored, leaving Jose Mourinho under growing pressure to get things right.

Ahead of this weekend's trip to Turf Moor, Sports Mole looks at how Mourinho could set out his side.

Out: Diogo Dalot, Sergio Romero

Mourinho took drastic action on the back of the 3-2 loss at Brighton by changing more than half of his side for the subsequent 3-0 defeat to Spurs, including a change of system.

Four players were dropped from the squad entirely, as Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial, Juan Mata and Andreas Pereira failed to make the matchday 18.

Ander Herrera was tasked with filling in alongside Phil Jones and Chris Smalling in a five-man backline that allowed Luke Shaw - United's best performer on the night - and the returning Antonio Valencia to get forward.

The plan did not exactly pay off for Mourinho, though, and this weekend could well see the return of Bailly and Lindelof alongside one of Jones or Smalling.

Valencia and Shaw did enough against Spurs to warrant selection against Burnley, while fit-again Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are also key men in the centre of the park, even if questions remain over the latter's level of consistency.

There is a decision to be made over Fred's place in the side, though, with the Brazilian not exactly starring for the Red Devils thus far, and Mourinho may instead opt to throw in the more attack-minded Alexis Sanchez in a slight reshuffle that will also get more out of Jesse Lingard.
